Starting from the summer 2024 the festival will be kept at Kanaanbadet, a big and family friendly beach with walking distance from Blackeberg and Vällingby, north of Stockholm.

The Festival has been kept at Lappis Beach in Stockholm since 2017. The summer of 2023 we were facing some issues with the ground due to a lot of raining which created too much mud where the audience should have been. Also due to the fact that the festival has been growing a lot each year we also wanted to have a new location that can hold enough space for the audience, market and food vendors.

No, the festival is free of charge. Free entry for everyone!

The afterparty is kept at Stadsgårdsterminalen in Stockholm City, the age limit is 20 years. Tickets to the afterparty can be bought online on this website for a discounted price.

There are 3 ticket options, Tickets for food, back stage Ticket and Tickets for our after party at Club Himla. Entrance to the festival is free of cost.

The beach is roughly 15-20 minutes walk from Blackeberg, Råcksta or Vällingby subway station. The Festival provides a shuttle that drives attendees from Blackeberg subway station to the beach and vice versa every half hour. However if attendees wish to walk and capture the lush beautiful landscape along the journey then feel free to do so. A route description is specified in the (arrival & parking) button above on this page.

We have a strict no refund policy, unless the organizers of the festival cancel the event. NO refund will be granted.

All minors up the age of 20 is not allowed inside the night club.
Backstage at the festival also requires a age limit of 18 years of age.

We offer 15% discount on hotel rooms when booking trough our partner Scandic Hotel.

Booking can be made via www.scandichotels.com

Booking code: TBA

Free change and cancellation until 18.00 on the day of arrival.

Please note that the code is subject to availability.

Valid only for Scandic Victoria Tower, Scandic Kista during the 8-10 of August 2025.

Welcome to our annual Jamaica Independence Celebration Festival at Kaananbadet Beach in Stockholm, a celebration of music, culture, and community under the summer sun! This event is completely free to attend, as we aim to make it accessible to everyone who shares our love for reggae music and Caribbean culture.

However, we would like to be transparent about the financial reality of organizing this festival. This year, we received partial support from Stockholm Stad, who generously has contributed 150,000 SEK. While we are truly grateful for this, the total cost of the festival exceeds 350,000 SEK.

To make this event possible and avoid financial lost, we are relying heavily on community support. This includes donations, food and drink purchases, and merchandise sales during the day. If you enjoy the festival, we kindly ask you to support in any way you can, whether it’s buying a plate of food, purchasing a t-shirt, or simply spreading the word. If you would like to support and donate a small amount already today use our link on the homepage for Tickets and Donation or swish to 123 270 97 64

OPEN MIC:
We are proud to offer a special Open Mic segment in our daytime program, dedicated to showcasing local talents. If you’re an artist interested in performing, this is your chance to shine!

Please note the following:
  • The Open Mic will take place only during the  specific time slot, which will be starting at 15:45 at the big stage.
  • To participate, make sure to bring your USB with maximum 3 songs.
  • Each artist on the Open Mic will get maximum 10 minutes each.
  • No performances will be accepted outside of this time, so it’s crucial that participants arrive on time.
  • Latecomers will unfortunately not be allowed to perform, as we must respect the time and structure of the full festival program.
BACK STAGE:

The backstage area is reserved ONLY for participants of the event. This includes main acts, VIP ticket holders, artists who will partake in the open mic, and dancers who will be performing according to the running order. A special color wristband will be given to all the above, and individuals who do not have a valid wristband will not gain access backstage.
We kindly ask all those who are granted backstage access to be respectful to each other and not infringe on the main act’s privacy in their tents. You are NOT allowed to take a companion with you without a pass.

CLOSING HOURS:
The festival will end approximately at 23:00, and the stage and backstage area must be cleared no later than 23:30 to allow our cleaners and crew to disassemble the tents and stage. DJs from the event will be relocated to Kollektivet Livet, where the festival’s after-party will continue.
We encourage the public to leave the beach respectfully so that we can conduct a timely conclusion and move promptly towards the end of the night, adhering to the specifics of our permit. It is crucial that we do not violate these regulations, as it is of utmost importance for our application for the forthcoming year.
