FESTIVAL 9 AUG 2025

Right now we are planning the stage program and running order with artists, DJs, dancers, speakers and much more around to make the festival in the summer of 2025 unforgettable!

We will be at the new location Kanaanbadet in Stockholm west region Hässelby-Vällingby and it will be, as usual, a Saturday in August with a close connection to Jamaica’s Independence Day and thus the 9th of August this year.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to be involved in any way and contribute to making the festival possible with free admission. Everything from volunteering to financial and material support is much appreciated!

The history of the Festival

The Jamaican Culture Association is behind this festival, which started off with the first celebration on a small scale in the summer of 2017. The event has since grown a little every year and today it is a festival. We have had a record number of visitors of almost 3000 people and has been kept every year at Lappis Beach in Stockholm until 2023. Starting from 2025 our new location will be Kanaanbadet.

We have had worldwide Jamaican artists such as Charly Black, Agent Sasco, Eek-a-Mouse, Queen Ifrica, Chi Ching Ching, Turbulence, Voicemail, G-Whizz, IQ and many nore, but also local artists in reggae and dancehall including Syster Sol, Essa Cham, Aurelia Dey, Leafnuts, Latin Kings with Dogge Doggelito, Million Styles, DanJah, Etzia and many more to come.

The festival is a full day that includes performances by artists, DJs, professional dancers, “open-mic”, and speakers on various topics that touch on Jamaican culture in some way. In addition to the stage program, we have a variety of activities specifically for children including free bouncy castles, face painting, balloons, quizz and even a lottery for the whole family.

Since 2023, we have implemented the official after-party at a nightclub in central Stockholm with international DJs for the evening and where the festival’s artists are welcome to the after-party.

The purpose of the festival is to spread the Jamaican but also Afro-Caribbean culture to the Swedish people, where we want to include everyone who loves the culture or wants to get closer to it and learn more. Our goal is to be able to have free admission or a very low fee every year, as it should be possible for EVERYONE regardless of their financial situation to take part in a colourful music, dance, language, gastronomy and culture all in one.
